I will say I am a huge fan of Apple products. Their sleek, impressive designs make me drool over every new product that comes out. We own a laptop and hubby and I both have an iPod Touch. Little did I know that when we purchased these delightful gadgets a year ago that my life would be forever changed. This is why my first blog is about the iToddler formerly known as iPod Touch. Better known as electronic babysitter #2.
It all happened right before my eyes. Toddler hands all of a sudden reaching for my fun, and me just handing it to her. My $300 toy. My something. Mine!!!! I didn't feel like telling her no. I caved. I cave a lot. I mean it's not hurting her. Hurting my ability to play Words with Friends and Facebook on a whim, yes. Let me tell you something, my girl will be 21 months here in 2 days. She is by far the smartest child (I know we all say that, but hey, it's my blog so back off) I know. She knows how to open up the iToddler, she knows where her games are, Dora, counting games, flashcards, etc. She knows where her Yo Gabba Gabba videos are and not only that she knows how to play them. Want to see a picture? Just ask Scout and she will show you that too. I am completely baffled by her ability to operate this device. Even now she is just sitting at her little table playing games. Some parents might be worried about their children watching this cartoon or that cartoon. Or god forbid touch something with a battery in it (sheesh), but this sort of excites me! I mean if my almost 2 year old can do this, what is she going to be capable of as a teen or adult. I happen to think letting her explore her abilities (within reason) is allowing her to grow in amazing ways. It is always exciting getting to see your child reach that next milestone. While I think that Scout is leaping and jumping over those milestones, I am grateful that she still shares HER(MY) toy with me . Even if it means while she is sleeping.
